Hola familias!
October's been a busy month so far with our first spanish culture assembly, inside out day, our artist in residence and meeting our new grade 5 buddies! Students will be working with grade 5's on spanish conversation and other important buddy activities throughout the year (We're hoping to meet each week). This week we focused on our feelings in alignment with inside out day. Students have been learning how to ask "How do you feel?/Como te sientes?" and responding with "I feel/Yo me siento ______." We've been exploring the following emotions: feliz - happy (for boy and girl) triste - sad (for boy and girl) enojado/a - angry ("o" ending for a boy or "a" ending for a girl) cansado/a - tired ("o" ending for a boy or "a" ending for a girl) emocionado/a - excited ("o"ending for a boy or "a" ending for a girl) We are singing these Spanish songs in the classroom Feelings: 5 calabazas https://youtu.be/UK59hUTnIiM Starting of our day song: Hola a todos! https://youtu.be/tOj4hEk2CtU Colors: Colores, colores https://youtu.be/DsRKoZGaoEM Clean up: A limpiar! https://youtu.be/vsb06zU4E9o Days of the week: Los dias de la semana https://youtu.be/C2DNBnhMpvQ For our movement break part of the day, we dance to the music of these songs (we do not watch the videos) Head and shoulders : Cabeza, hombros, rodillas, pies https://youtu.be/qMaJ1_eZDos 1, 2, 3 https://youtu.be/P6Evn_wnx0Y We've also been focusing on letter names and letter/sound recognition. This will of course be ongoing through the year but students are currently learning to identify their names letters and are being introduced to letter sounds. I encourage students to play the following games to reinforce this learning :) http://www.abcya.com/kindergarten_computers.htm#letters-ca Gracias! Srta. Lopez
